How to Pay Here

Really ….we promise.  Paying is simple and easy here !  We apologize but the need for two separate payment pages is pretty much caused by the needlessly complex requirements of our friends at the Virginia State Bar.  (There we had to get that off our chest.)

To very much generalize and simplify

(i)  The Pay a Deposit page is for brand new clients to pay their deposits for FUTURE legal services and/or to set up a first time initial consultation.

(ii)  The Pay Bill Here page is for existing clients who want to pay their legal bills for past services already rendered.

And, in the vast majority of circumstances it really is that simple.  But in some cases further explanation is required.  Hence the two pages with further explanations.  (If you have questions please just call us, we can usually answer your payment question in 2 seconds flat).

While we do accept personal and commercial checks and money orders in person or by regular U.S. mail at the address shown on the Contact Us page, at the present time THIS WEBSITE can only accept payments by either: (i) CREDIT CARDS and DEBIT CARDS of the type listed on the screen; or (ii) from persons who have a PAYPAL ACCOUNT.  Persons with credit or debit cards of the type listed DO NOT need to be PayPal members or have a Paypal Account to pay here on this website.  However, any client who wants to pay by means other than a credit card or a debit card at this website (rather than by regular mail or in person) must have an account with PayPal.  (The prompt at the “Pay Bill Here” and the “Pay a Deposit” page (see our home page top menu)  will allow you to register for a PayPal account if you want one.*

The “PAY BILL HERE” page  (see the top menu of our home page)  is for the payment of services that have ALREADY BEEN RENDERED by us to the client. (In short, that page is for the payment of PAST services already rendered by us whether those services were performed one second ago or 100 years ago.) Payments on this page are made to “David D. The “PAY A DEPOSIT” page ( again, see top menu) is for the payment of EITHER: (i) the initial consultation by folks who were not previously our clients; OR (ii) the payment for anticipated FUTURE services by us usually under a fee agreement signed by us. (Many people refer to these payments as “retainers” but in fact the Virginia State Bar wants us to call them “deposits”). So if you are a new client who wants to hire us for a future court date or whatever, and we have not yet performed any services, you should use the Pay a Deposit page to make a deposit. Payments here are to “Lentz Client Trust” (Sometimes this is done automatically for you.) Withdrawals are made by us in a manner consistent with our fee agreement with the client and ethical rules imposed on us by the Virginia State Bar.  Click here to go to the Pay a Deposit page: Pay a Deposit Link

It’s easy to pay at either page for either or both of the above purposes. Just remember to click the “PAY NOW” button at either the “Pay Legal Bill Here” or the “Pay a Deposit” page (whichever applies to you), which sends you to the next page where you will have to do TWO THINGS  on THAT PAGE, namely:  (1.) fill in the BOX  that is titled “ITEM PRICE ” on the upper LEFT with the amount you are paying … There, just type the amount that you are paying to us in the little box (no dollar sign needed).. Don’t worry about typing the “total” below that….the dollar “total” will come out correctly automatically after you click through to the last page.. (2.)  But before you click to go to the next page, IF YOU WANT TO PAY BY DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD (then ON THE SAME PAGE that you filled in your payment amount in the “item price” box) … in the lower right…. CLICK on the words that indicate that you DON’T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT.  By clicking on the words that indicate that you don’t have a Paypal account you will automatically be taken to the page (which is operated by PAYPAL) where they will take your credit card/debit card information and account number.     Your payment confirmation will show on the screen and will be sent to the email address that you provide.**  Thanks for your payment and for allowing us to serve you.

* ( For those not paying by credit or debit card, unfortunately, at the present time it is unclear whether you will be able to BOTH REGISTER for a PayPal account and PAY ON THIS SITE on the SAME DAY as you initially register for the PAYPAL ACCOUNT if you don’t already have a PayPal Account.  However it doesn’t hurt to try if you so desire after reviewing the various plans that PAYPAL has to offer. Again the listed credit cards and debit cards are accepted regardless of whether you have a Paypal account. )

VERY IMPORTANT:  Please note that paying the deposit to set up an initial consultation (or just to pay for the initial consultation, if already performed) does NOT mean that we will represent you or appear on your behalf in court in the future.  In order for us to represent you after the initial consultation (such as in court or otherwise) you must first sign a separate written fee agreement acceptable to us whereby we agree to represent you and perform the legal services that you desire.
